WA#5

Emulating Pablo Neruda

Forgetting

The night closes in on me,
Taking my sanity,
Thoughts running wild,
Of sunshine and beauty,
Like runners, go through me,
To get to the finish line,
The first to be thought and shine
Out to the crowd,
That watches above

My mind’s slowly turning,
A giant ride spinning
And I’m at the top,
Below is the circus,
All crowded and noisy,
Like thoughts come unbidden,
Faintly I hear them,
From my perch up above

I think of my future,
Will I be remembered?
Or will I be forgotten,
Like so many before?

It all seems so senseless,
The life that we’re living,
The dying, forgetting,
A flower in spring,
That dies in the winter,
Has no recollection
Of the summer before
It’s life will not matter,
It’s name soon forgotten,
The place it had stood
Is soon covered in snow

I feel insignificant,
Like the flower in winter,
That know one will see,
It’s useless to think,
We can not make a difference,
For know one remembers,
The summer that’s past,
The first leaf to fall,
There are so many others,
Like people on branches,
We all must soon fall.

For things always change,
The seasons, the minutes,
The people in charge,
They try to be better,
Then people before,
But all is forgotten,
A legacy passed down,
Only for so long

Will know one remember,
When years have gone by,
Like cars on a free way,
Their noxious emissions,
Killing our brain cells,
To make us forget?

But forgetting what?
These matters are trivial,
As long as you love,
What need you remember?
As long as you love,
Your life is completed,
Things are forgotten,
But love is forever,
There will always be love,
Know matter what happens,
And this, I’ll remember

WA4

The money that a get today,
Will soon be frittered all away,
On things I may not really need,
But make me happy for a day,

Sometimes I wonder, “what if I,
Didn’t have these things I crave,
Would I be living comfortably?
Or wishing I had food to eat?

What if people in the world,
Go hungry almost everyday
What if they can’t make enough,
to feed them for a single day?”

Sometimes you’ll here of companies
Who say they give these people jobs,
Who say the people love their work
They’re really slaves to corporate snobs.

These Companies don’t really care,
If they live or perish too,
They’re so caught up in greedy ways
They cannot see the harm they do

People buy their products still,
Still, support this evil cause,
But they don’t really have a choice,
Coz were else can they buy their food.

Organizations come and go,
That say they want to see the end
Of mistreated workers and awful pay,
Of death and lies and greedy men.

But can it really be their fault,
That things turned out to be that way.
All they really wanted to do,
Was help their community in some way.

It’s human nature to want much more
Then anyone should ever have
Its natural but should be shunned
Your voracity will leave you stunned

Most people can control their greed
But There’s e a few unlucky ones
Who cannot seem to control themselves
And money becomes their only love
