WA#7 draft 2
The Voyage
The stars were bright, yet the moon barely shone,
The breeze was warm, yet I wanted to go home,
Our ship sped along, propelled by the breeze,
We were making decent time, sailing on the sea,
I sat on the deck, the wind in my hair
It was my watch, but I really didn’t care,
All I need is to be home, not sailing and alone
Always on the water, never knowing where to go,
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But my heart slowly breaks
A steady throbbing ache
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But I still rue the day
The captain stole my love away
Several months ago, we ran into a storm,
The raging winds and stinging rain, did our ship much harm,
Broken up and battered, the storm left us for dead,
With all the damage done, I thought we’d sink like lead,
Our captain lost an arm, our ship had lost its mast,
We needed dry land, so we jumped to the task,
Our wounded captain toiled, down with the men,
Even with his wound, the ship he helped to mend,
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But my heart slowly breaks
A steady throbbing ache
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But I still rue the day
The captain stole my love away
An island straight ahead, we landed there that day,
Their I met my love, there’s nothing else to say,
She stood on the dock, and watched our ship land,
I almost fainted, as she waved her fair hand,
She worked at the inn, where the crew and I stayed,
I tried my best to meet her, but things got in the way,
The captain introduced, himself with a bow,
She batted her eyes, and watched with a smile,
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But my heart slowly breaks
A steady throbbing ache
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But I still rue the day
The captain stole my love away
About a month passed, they had their wedding day,
The captain and his bride, were both bright and gay,
My heart was rent in two, my smile very strained,
I knew from that moment, I’d never love again!
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But my heart slowly breaks
A steady throbbing ache
I’ve sailed the seven seas
I’ve seen so many things
But I still rue the day
The captain stole my love away
